    What Is a Gearbox?

    A gearbox is a mechanical unit that consists of a chain or set of gears. The gears are mounted on a shaft and are supported by rolling element bearings.     Regardless of the type of transmission, most gearboxes are equipped with a secondary gear and a primary one.
